EasyJet has canceled numerous flights to popular summer destinations on short notice, disrupting the holiday plans of hundreds of UK travelers.
Passengers arriving at Edinburgh and Glasgow airports were shocked to find their flights had been canceled. Sarah Machete, one such traveler, found her wedding plans in Naples thrown into disarray when her outbound flight was canceled. The airline offered her an alternative flight on Saturday, which she found unacceptable.
She wrote: "So...was just about to leave for the airport for our flight to Naples for our wedding & got a message to say our flight has been cancelled. EasyJet response…. Your only option is the flight on Saturday! Zero shits given by their customer service."
Instead of traveling today, Sarah now has to fly to Luton and then catch an early morning connection to Naples tomorrow, costing her a night at the villa she had booked.
Another passenger on the same flight expressed his frustration on X, stating that the last-minute cancellation had cut two days from his holiday. "EasyJet have cancelled our flight from Edinburgh to Naples and rebooked us so we lose nearly two days of our holiday. Why are we not booked on another airline to get us to Naples today?"
Guy Houston and his family arrived at Glasgow airport at 5 a.m. for a package holiday to Tunisia, only to be informed just 65 minutes before departure that their flight was canceled due to storms. He reported to the Daily Record that no EasyJet staff were available to assist them.
Further south, a passenger at Bristol Airport complained of being stranded for seven hours, ruining their Turkish holiday.
Passengers have reported receiving various explanations for the cancellations, including air traffic control restrictions, leaving many frustrated and confused about the true reasons for the disruptions. Photo by FlightReal, Wikimedia commons.
