Plans to build 500 new homes on the Blenheim Palace estate have been submitted to Cherwell District Council. The development would be located east of Park View in Woodstock, Oxfordshire,
near Oxford Airport.
Blenheim Estate Homes, the estate’s housing company, is leading the proposal. A public consultation is open until 10 July, with a final decision expected from the council on 8 September.
This is not the first time the estate has tried to develop the site. A previous plan for 1,200 homes was rejected by the council in 2015.
The new proposal describes the development as a “modest extension to Woodstock” aimed at promoting “community integration and social cohesion.” It includes a target of 35% affordable housing, a community square, and pedestrian and cycle routes linking to Upper Campsfield Road and Shipton Road.
Blenheim Estate Homes said it is committed to creating “beautiful homes and thriving communities” and emphasized its strong ties to the local area. The company stated it feels a “moral obligation” to contribute to the region’s shared prosperity through thoughtful development.
