British Queen celebrates

As the Easter holiday approaches, millions of travelers are gearing up for a weekend getaway, with Good Friday expected to see a surge in travel activity.

A record number of individuals are planning air travel this weekend, while approximately 2.6 million car journeys are projected to take place on UK roads on Friday alone. However, drivers are cautioned that journeys might take longer than usual, with some routes potentially doubling travel times.

Despite stormy weather impacting parts of the UK on Thursday, leading to disruptions in rail and air travel, conditions are anticipated to improve as the weekend progresses. Although some areas experienced snowfall, the outlook for the Easter weekend promises brighter skies for most regions, with a mix of sunshine and showers expected. While temperatures will hover around average levels, there's a possibility of heavy downpours and hail.

Although no severe weather warnings are in effect, the Environment Agency has issued numerous flood warnings and alerts in England, with additional alerts in Wales. Travelers are advised to stay informed about local conditions and potential disruptions.

Rail travel may be affected by planned engineering works, particularly at major stations like London Euston, which will see significant closures over the holiday weekend. Additionally, heightened border checks at Dover may lead to delays for ferry passengers, with authorities recommending travelers plan ahead and allocate extra time for their journeys.

Despite potential disruptions, airports, railways, and ferry services are gearing up for the influx of passengers, with Manchester Airport and Glasgow Airport anticipating record numbers.
