British Queen celebrates

US President Donald Trump has landed in the UK for a rare second state visit, this time joined by First Lady Melania Trump. The couple will be based at Windsor Castle during their stay, with

King Charles and Queen Camilla acting as hosts.

Trump and the First Lady arrived in London on Tuesday evening and spent the night at the US Ambassador’s residence in Regent’s Park. On Wednesday morning, they’ll head to Windsor by helicopter, where the Prince and Princess of Wales will welcome them before introducing them to the King and Queen.

The day will include lunch with members of the Royal Family, a private viewing of treasures from the Royal Collection, and a dramatic “Beating Retreat” ceremony complete with a flypast featuring both UK and US F-35 jets alongside the Red Arrows. The evening will close with a state banquet at Windsor Castle, where both King Charles and President Trump are set to make speeches.

Who else is on Trump’s schedule?

On Thursday, Trump will travel with the King and Queen to Chequers for talks with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and his wife. The President will also get a chance to browse through the Winston Churchill archives before a bilateral meeting with Starmer. Later, he’ll attend a business reception hosted by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. The day will finish with a joint press conference between the US President and the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Melania Trump will remain at Windsor Castle for part of Thursday. She’ll tour the Royal Library and view Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, the famous miniature palace from the 1920s. She’ll also meet Chief Scout Dwayne Fields, accompanied by Catherine, Princess of Wales, who is joint president of the Scout Association. Melania will then reunite with her husband at Chequers before their departure.

Looking back: Trump’s last UK visit

This isn’t Trump’s first state visit to Britain. Back in 2019, he was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and held talks with then–Prime Minister Theresa May just before her resignation. The trip also featured a few days at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland—and the now-famous sight of a 20-foot “Trump baby” blimp flying over Parliament Square during protests.

A new UK-US deal

Trump’s arrival coincides with a major announcement: the UK and US have signed a “tech prosperity deal” aimed at boosting cooperation in fields like AI, quantum computing, and nuclear power. The agreement could bring billions in investment to Britain, including a huge £22bn pledge from Microsoft.
