Aurigny has hit a big milestone on its London City–Guernsey service, welcoming its 75,000th passenger just 17 months after the route launched in March 2024.
To mark the occasion, senior leaders from London City Airport flew to Guernsey to join the celebrations, meet local businesses, and see first-hand how the route is benefiting the island.
London City Airport itself has recently been in the spotlight, with consumer watchdog Which? naming it “by far the best airport in London” thanks to its speed and efficiency. In 2024, the airport topped the UK rankings with an 80% customer score, far ahead of Heathrow, Gatwick, and Luton.
The Guernsey service has been especially popular with the island’s finance sector, offering fast access to London’s business district. With the airport just 10 minutes from Canary Wharf and a short “door-to-gate” journey time of under 20 minutes, Aurigny reports more than 2,000 same-day return business trips since launch.
The lucky 75,000th passenger, Mr. Lannon from Luxembourg, was travelling via London City to attend a wedding in Guernsey. As a surprise, he received two complimentary tickets to use on a future flight. “I was pleasantly surprised to learn I was the 75,000th passenger,” he said. “The connection through London City was incredibly smooth, and I’m looking forward to celebrating with friends here in Guernsey.”
Andrew Hodges, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport, said:
“We’re delighted to have connected 75,000 passengers between the beautiful island of Guernsey and the heart of London. Our partnership with Aurigny is strong, and we’re committed to making sure this route continues to benefit the community here.”
Aurigny’s CEO, Nico Bezuidenhout, added:
“Our relationship with London City is incredibly positive. Between London City and London Gatwick, Aurigny now offers Guernsey both fast access to central London and global connections through Gatwick’s 230+ destinations. It’s a combination that’s working really well for the island.”
Looking ahead, Aurigny and London City Airport confirmed that the route will continue with over 30 flights a week available to book until at least July 2026.
