Gary Hoffman and Daniel Levy have been awarded CBEs in the King’s New Year Honours, reflecting the increasing recognition of football’s influence beyond the
game itself.
Hoffman, a former Premier League chair and the current chairman of Monzo, was recognised for his contributions to the economy and to sport. He played a key role in stabilising Northern Rock during the 2008 financial crisis and later led the Premier League from 2020 to 2022, steering the organisation through the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Levy, who chaired Tottenham Hotspur for more than 20 years, received his CBE for services to charity and the local community. During his tenure at Spurs, he oversaw a significant transformation of the club, including the construction of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a major regeneration project in north London, placing community engagement at the heart of the development.
