British Queen celebrates

Following the success of the left, which came out on top in Sunday's legislative elections but without an absolute majority, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has submitted his resignation to

Emmanuel Macron. The head of state has asked him to remain Prime Minister "for the moment" in order to "ensure the stability of the country," according to the Élysée. Meanwhile, the leader of the Ecologists stated that Emmanuel Macron "should officially call on the New People's Front to submit a name for Prime Minister today." The French political class begins discussions on Monday to build an unlikely majority and designate a Prime Minister the day after legislative elections that resulted in an Assembly fragmented into three blocs. The New People's Front (NFP) came out on top in the vote but without an absolute majority, securing 182 seats. The left is closely followed by Ensemble (168 deputies), the presidential camp. The National Rally, which was predicted to be the favorite, is the big loser (143 seats). The Republican Party (LR) secured 45 deputies, according to the final results given by the Ministry of the Interior.

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is meeting with President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée on Monday to submit his resignation. The president has already announced that he will wait for the "structuring" of the new Assembly before calling on a figure to form a government. In the meantime, Gabriel Attal's team is expected to handle current affairs.
