Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday called for an immediate end to what he described as U.S. and Israeli aggression, saying a ceasefire is essential to de-escalate tensions and
prevent a broader regional conflict.
According to a statement shared by Iran’s embassy in India, Pezeshkian stressed that any resolution must include firm guarantees to prevent future hostilities. In his conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Iranian leader also urged the BRICS bloc of emerging economies to take on a more independent and active role in stopping actions against Iran.
Pezeshkian further proposed the creation of a regional security framework led by West Asian nations, emphasizing that long-term stability can only be achieved without external interference.
In a separate statement posted earlier on Saturday, Modi condemned attacks targeting critical infrastructure across the Middle East. He reiterated India’s position on maintaining the security of key maritime routes, underlining the importance of keeping global shipping lanes open and safe amid rising tensions.
