A British woman has been charged with stalking George Osborne, the former UK finance minister, and his wife, Thea Rogers, over the course of more than a year, court records reveal.
Lydia Suffield, 27, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Monday. She faces allegations of stalking Osborne, who served as finance minister from 2010 to 2016, and Rogers between June 8, 2022, and July 5, 2023.
The charge accuses Suffield, from Liverpool, of sending numerous emails and Instagram messages to the couple. Additionally, it alleges she made "false referrals to the NSPCC," a leading children’s charity.
Details about the case remain limited, and Suffield has not commented publicly on the charges.
Since leaving government, Osborne has taken on several high-profile roles, including serving as editor of The Evening Standard. He currently works with boutique investment bank Robey Warshaw and serves as chair of the British Museum. Osborne and Rogers tied the knot on July 8, 2023. Photo by Financial Times, Wikimedia commons.
