Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson unexpectedly joined the British election campaign on Tuesday, delivering a last-minute appeal to bolster support for the

Conservative Party and its leader Rishi Sunak, who played a pivotal role in Johnson's ousting from office.

Johnson, who secured a significant majority in the 2019 election but was compelled to resign in 2022 following a Conservative revolt spearheaded by Sunak, highlighted the internal divisions within the party as he introduced the current Prime Minister at a campaign event in London.

Amid chants of "Boris! Boris!" from party supporters, Johnson's speech focused on his own achievements rather than providing extensive personal endorsement for Sunak. Instead, he emphasized the perceived risks of the Labour Party gaining power.

"We cannot afford to sit idly by as a Labour government, armed with a potentially overwhelming majority, threatens to dismantle much of what we have accomplished," Johnson asserted.

Acknowledging the surprise of his appearance, Johnson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to assist Sunak. "When asked for help, I simply couldn't refuse," he added.

Johnson urged unity within the Conservative ranks despite past differences, warning that any internal disputes pale in comparison to the potential catastrophe he believes could result from current polling predictions.

A prominent figure in British politics and known for his electoral successes, Johnson has largely remained on the sidelines since stepping back from frontline politics in 2023. While he has endorsed individual candidates through video messages, this event marked his first major campaign appearance.
