Travel disruption and flooding are expected to impact much of the UK on Wednesday and Thursday, as the Met Office has issued several weather warnings.
An amber warning for rain is in effect for parts of north Wales and north-west England, including Liverpool and Manchester, starting from noon on Wednesday and lasting for 24 hours.
The Met Office predicts heavy and persistent rain in these areas, making flooding and disruption likely.
Additionally, yellow rain warnings have been issued for southern Scotland, northern England, the Midlands, and mid-Wales.
A new yellow warning for thunderstorms covers much of the south coast of England from 8am to 7pm on Wednesday.
According to the Met Office, areas under yellow warnings might experience "some" flooding and disruption, while those under amber warnings are likely to face more severe impacts.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill described the upcoming weather as a "pretty wet picture" for the rest of the week.
"There is some uncertainty as to exactly where we are going to see the heaviest rain and where is most likely to be impacted," he added.
The Met Office forecasts that many places could receive 30-40mm of rain, with some areas potentially seeing 60-80mm as the heavy rain moves northwards throughout Wednesday. Photo by Heavy rain at Tinhay by David Smith, Wikimedia commons.
