British Queen celebrates

Prince William will undertake his first major overseas engagement of the year with an official visit to Saudi Arabia next month, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The Prince of Wales is set to travel to the Kingdom for a three-day visit from Monday 9 February to Wednesday 11 February, following an invitation from the UK Government. The trip comes as Britain and Saudi Arabia approach 100 years of diplomatic relations and continue to strengthen economic and strategic partnerships.

According to a palace spokesperson, the visit will centre on “growing trade, energy and investment ties” between the two countries. While the full programme has yet to be announced, the engagement is expected to highlight areas of expanding co-operation between London and Riyadh.

Although Prince William has previously carried out official duties in the Gulf — including visits to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait — this will mark his first formal visit to Saudi Arabia. The trip builds on a series of recent high-level UK engagements in the region. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh in December 2024, while Chancellor Rachel Reeves led a trade delegation to the Gulf in October 2025 to support negotiations with the Gulf Co-operation Council.

The announcement follows a busy period at home for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Earlier this week, the couple carried out joint engagements in Scotland, beginning with a visit to the National Curling Academy in Stirling, where they met athletes from Team GB and Paralympic GB ahead of the Milano-Cortina Winter Paralympic Games later this winter.

They also visited Radical Weavers, a charity that supports people affected by trauma through traditional tartan weaving, before ending the day at The Gothenburg — a community-owned pub in the former mining village of Fallon.

Kensington Palace said further details of Prince William’s Saudi Arabia itinerary will be released closer to the visit. Photo by European Union, Wikimedia commons.
