New car sales in the UK slipped by around 2% in August compared to the same month last year, according to early figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
While overall registrations dipped, electric cars continued to make headway. Battery-powered vehicles accounted for about 26% of all new cars sold last month, showing that drivers are increasingly leaning toward EVs despite the wider slowdown.
