British Queen celebrates

15-year-old British tennis sensation Mika Stojsavljevic has made history by winning the US Open girls' title, marking the first time in 15 years that a UK player has

claimed victory in the junior competition. Mika secured the championship by defeating Japan's Wakana Sonobe in straight sets during the final in New York.

This triumph represents Mika's first win at one of tennis' prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, which include the US Open, Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. Reflecting on her victory, she expressed, "I'm super happy and super grateful."

Mika's victory makes her the first British girl to win the junior title since Heather Watson's triumph in 2009. Prior to this, her best Grand Slam performance was reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last year.

Her journey to the final wasn't without its challenges. In the semi-finals, she faced American Iva Jovic, a player who had advanced to the second round of the women's main draw. After her victory, Mika thanked her family and the supportive crowd, saying, "Thank you to my family for supporting me back home, and thank you to the crowd here, you've been great."

Mika began playing tennis at the age of five at Ealing Lawn Tennis Club in London, and her tennis idol is none other than five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova. It's easy to see why she looks up to Sharapova, who, while she never won the junior US Open, claimed the main title in 2006.
