West Ham United have secured the signing of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in a deal worth £15 million. The 26-year-old has committed to a
seven-year contract with the Hammers.
Wan-Bissaka originally joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace in 2019 for a transfer fee of £50 million. During his time at Old Trafford, he made 190 appearances and scored two goals for the Red Devils.
This transfer marks West Ham's eighth acquisition of the summer, following the signings of Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Füllkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodríguez.
"It was an easy decision for me to join West Ham—I'm thrilled and happy to be here," Wan-Bissaka said. "I can't wait to get on the pitch, connect with the players, and move forward from there. I see a team that's united, one that pushes each other to win, and a group that supports one another through thick and thin. Being part of that environment and having that kind of backing is a huge boost when you're surrounded by a strong squad."
Born in London, Wan-Bissaka also expressed his delight at returning to the capital, describing it as an "amazing feeling."
Wan-Bissaka was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his tenure as Manchester United manager in 2019, and he quickly became a first-choice defender until Solskjaer's departure in 2021. However, Wan-Bissaka's starting position became less secure following Erik ten Hag's appointment in 2022, although he still managed 64 appearances under the Dutch manager over the past two seasons.
Manchester United's pursuit of Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui was contingent on Wan-Bissaka's move to West Ham, and the Red Devils now expect to finalize the signing of the Moroccan international.
