The University of Oxford has been ranked the top university in the UK for investment in building repairs and remediation, according to a new national report.
The ranking, based on data from SFG20 — the industry standard for facilities management — gave Oxford a score of 75.41 overall. The findings came from a Freedom of Information request sent to universities nationwide, with 61 institutions providing responses.
Oxford reported spending £18.5 million on building maintenance during the most recent financial year, well below its £26.4 million budget. This careful use of resources resulted in the successful completion of nearly 40,000 maintenance projects.
Close behind was the University of York, which invested £12.8 million in repairs, also coming in under budget by about £3 million.
