British Queen celebrates

London commuters experienced significant disruption during rush hour this morning, with severe delays impacting parts of the Underground network.

The Central Line has been severely affected, with no service between Leytonstone and Liverpool Street due to a signal failure, causing major issues across the route.

A Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson told The Independent: "We apologize to Central line customers for the disruption to their journeys this morning. This was caused by a signal failure at Stratford. Engineers are working as quickly as possible to restore normal service."

Additional disruptions are affecting other key routes in and around the city, including services to Heathrow Airport.

The Elizabeth Line is currently not operating between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow due to station equipment failure.

On the District Line, there is no service between Turnham Green and Richmond as Network Rail addresses a track fault at Gunnersbury, which also affects the London Overground, with no trains running between Richmond and Gunnersbury.

Furthermore, there is no service between South Tottenham and Barking Riverside due to a signal failure at Walthamstow Queen’s Road.

"Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, London Overground, Elizabeth Line, Chiltern Railways, Great Western Railway, and Greater Anglia services via any reasonable route," a note on the TfL website states. "Customers are advised to avoid using the line where possible."

Frustrated commuters have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction. One user wrote on Twitter/X, "It’s another bad, bad morning," while another commented, "Nightmare on the Central line – kicked off at Leytonstone – standing in a train that is going nowhere and no one knows where it’s going."

Regarding the Elizabeth Line issues, one user remarked, "At it again this morning. Something so shiny and new fails so often."

Additionally, there is no service on London Tramlink between Arena and Elmers End due to a shortage of trams. Photo by Alex6nt, Wikimedia commons.
