In a recent ranking of the most desirable places to live in England and Wales for 2024, three areas in Oxfordshire have secured spots among the top contenders.
Garrington, a London-based property finder company, meticulously assessed over 1,400 cities, towns, and villages based on various criteria to compile this prestigious list.
The selection process involved evaluating factors such as natural beauty, flood risk, wellbeing, heritage, educational institutions, employment opportunities, and value for money. Chinnor secured the 20th spot on the list, boasting an average family home price of £691,306.
One place higher on the ranking is Wallingford, where the average family home comes with a price tag of £812,811. However, the top-performing town in Oxfordshire is Henley, clinching the 10th position overall. With an average family home price of £950,580, Henley is renowned for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant community.
The scoring criteria encompassed factors such as proximity to open spaces, National Parks, and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Additionally, considerations were given to the presence of listed and period homes, air quality, crime rates, and the percentage of homes within close proximity to primary schools ranked outstanding by Ofsted.
The comprehensive analysis evaluated a diverse range of locations, including 52 with a population exceeding 200,000, 92 larger towns with a population between 75,000 and 200,000, 353 medium towns with a population ranging from 20,000 to 75,000, and 921 small towns or large villages with a population between 5,000 and 20,000.
