A design and technology teacher from Burlington House School in west London has been suspended following social media posts that appeared to glorify the mastermind behind the October 7
terror attacks in Israel.
Mohammad Dahlan, who works at the Fulham-based school, reportedly praised Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar as a "martyr" after his death last month, according to The Telegraph. Dahlan is also alleged to have shared a post claiming, "killing Zionists is an act of worship."
Under UK law, supporting or inviting support for Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, carries a penalty of up to 14 years in prison. Other social media activity linked to Dahlan referred to the attacks as the “flood” and promoted a fundraising campaign for his aunt in Gaza.
Burlington House School, which caters to students with learning differences, immediately suspended Dahlan and launched a disciplinary investigation. A spokesperson stated, “Upon being alerted to this issue, the individual was suspended while we conduct a thorough investigation into potential breaches of our code of conduct and social media policy.”
The school has informed the police and other relevant authorities. Emphasizing its commitment to inclusivity and non-discrimination, the institution said: “We are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all, free from racism, anti-Semitism, or any form of discrimination, whether on or off school grounds.”
The Community Security Trust, an organization that monitors and combats anti-Semitism, expressed concerns. “It is deeply troubling that someone with such views was in a position to teach children,” a spokesperson commented, supporting the decision to suspend Dahlan.
