British Queen celebrates

Barbie has already conquered the box office, and now the film's soundtrack is set to dominate the UK music charts. Featuring 17 original songs from some of the biggest names in pop,

including Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and Nicki Minaj, the pink, sparkly LP is expected to make a splash on the Official Singles Chart.

Songs like "Dance the Night Away," "What Was I Made For," and "Barbie World" are all tipped to secure spots in the top 20.

The film's music supervisor, George Drakoulias, shared that recruiting such a star-studded lineup for the movie soundtrack was surprisingly smooth. "Nobody said no," he revealed, adding that everyone was genuinely excited to be part of the project. Even top names on his wishlist, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, and superstar writer-producer Mark Ronson, gladly joined the endeavor.

Mark Ronson played a significant role in the film's soundtrack, curating the entire album, writing the score, and co-penning the closing track, "Dance the Night Away," with Dua Lipa.

The soundtrack played a pivotal role in Barbie's extensive marketing campaign. Songs were released gradually leading up to the film's premiere, fueling excitement among fans. The seamless integration of music into the movie and vice versa created a perfect synergy that amplified the film's appeal and the album's popularity.

As a reflection of Barbie's iconic image, physical copies of the soundtrack are available in "cotton candy" vinyl and transparent pink cassette tapes, adding a nostalgic touch for fans.

George Drakoulias refrained from revealing his favorite track but praised Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For." The singer, after watching just 25 minutes of the film, managed to capture its essence in a heartfelt song about womanhood.

With the album's success in the charts, George is proud of the achievement, remarking that "It's Barbie's world, we just live in it."

The resurgence of blockbuster movie soundtracks featuring chart-topping artists has been a rarity in recent years, given the dominance of superhero franchises. However, the Barbie movie's soundtrack challenges this trend with its star-studded tracklist featuring contemporary pop icons. The album's diverse lineup, which includes Lizzo, Ice Spice, PinkPantheress, and Dua Lipa, raises the question: Is this the beginning of a new era for movie soundtracks?
