The nominations for the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards were unveiled on Monday, setting the stage for the first major awards ceremony of the season on January 11.

For the first time, the Golden Globes will also recognize excellence in podcasts, alongside film and television, across 28 categories. All categories feature six nominees, except for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which includes eight contenders.

Actors Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall announced Monday’s nominations, kicking off the build-up to the star-studded ceremony.

Among the first revealed was 'Best Male Actor – Television – Drama', featuring Sterling K. Brown ('Paradise'), Diego Luna ('Andor'), Gary Oldman ('Slow Horses'), Mark Ruffalo ('Task'), Adam Scott ('Severance'), and Noah Wyle ('The Pitt').

In the 'Best Score – Motion Picture' category, nominees include Alexandre Desplat ('Frankenstein'), Ludwig Göransson ('Sinners'), Jonny Greenwood ('One Battle After Another'), Max Richter ('Hamnet'), and Hans Zimmer ('F1: The Movie').

Netflix’s hit 'Adolescence' leads the 'Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture' category, alongside 'All Her Fault', 'The Beast in Me', 'Black Mirror', 'Dying for Sex', and 'The Girlfriend'. Stars Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty earned nominations, with 16-year-old Cooper nominated for 'Best Supporting Actor – TV Series, Limited Series or TV Movie', competing against Ashley Walters, Billy Crudup ('The Morning Show'), Walton Goggins ('The White Lotus'), Jason Isaacs ('The White Lotus'), and Tramell Tillman ('Severance').

Irish actor Paul Mescal also received a nod in 'Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture', competing with Benicio Del Toro ('One Battle After Another'), Jacob Elordi ('Frankenstein'), Sean Penn ('One Battle After Another'), Adam Sandler ('Jay Kelly'), and Stellan Skarsgard ('Sentimental Value').

Britain is already celebrating a guaranteed win, as Dame Helen Mirren will receive the 'Cecil B. DeMille Award' for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes’ January 8 “Golden Eve” ceremony. Previous recipients include Meryl Streep, Alfred Hitchcock, and last year’s honoree Viola Davis.

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature, and her career is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.”

The January 8 event will also feature the presentation of the 'Carol Burnett Award' for television to Sarah Jessica Parker.

Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser will return as host for the Golden Globes on January 11. Last year, Emilia Pérez led film nominations with a record-breaking ten nods, with 'The Brutalist'winning Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director, and 'The Bear' topping TV categories with five nominations.
