This week, an important reform was launched in Ukraine: permits for purchasing firearms have begun to be issued online. According to the UNIAN news agency, in just 8 hours, Ukrainians
generated more than 90,000 gun permits using the "Diia" application.
This was reported in his Telegram channel by Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology Development – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
"You have generated 90,000+ gun permits in 'Diia' in 8 hours! Super fast, as always. If you're still unsure how to upload the document, check out the step-by-step guide from our team," wrote the minister.
Fedorov urged citizens to use the digital gun permit in "Diia" and to store the paper version away.
Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, stated that a service for obtaining online gun permits had been launched in "Diia". From now on, the document can be obtained both through the Ministry of Internal Affairs services and the application.
According to Fedorov, thanks to the new service in "Diia," a digital gun permit can be generated instantly from the Unified Gun Registry. Users can also view complete information about all their registered firearms, including the document’s status.
The minister also noted that "Diia" users would receive notifications about their permit’s expiration date and that renewal can be done online through the MIA website.
This reform could lead to the introduction of a "Swiss-style neutrality system" in Ukraine, where every household would have the ability to defend itself against enemies at home.
