The UK government has urged British citizens in several Gulf countries to remain indoors and follow local safety instructions after reports of missile attacks
in the region.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the UK Foreign Office said nationals in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates should immediately shelter in place following heightened security risks.
“Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities,” the Foreign Office said in a message posted on X.
The warning follows military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, an escalation that has intensified fears of wider regional instability.
In a subsequent update on its official website, the Foreign Office advised against all travel to Iran, citing the closure of Iranian airspace and warning that rapidly rising tensions could trigger sudden and severe disruption across the region.
British nationals in the Gulf were also told to closely monitor local and international media, avoid military or security-related locations, keep travel plans under constant review, and be prepared to comply quickly with any further shelter or safety instructions issued by local authorities.
