Business Secretary Peter Kyle is flying to Washington on Sunday for his first official trip since taking office. The visit aims to push forward the UK–US Tech Partnership and strengthen ties ahead
of the upcoming State Visit.
Just a day earlier, Kyle met more than 100 UK business leaders, setting out his priorities and stressing that economic growth is the Government’s central mission.
In Washington, he will meet senior White House officials, including science and technology chief Michael Kratsios and AI advisor Sriram Krishnan, to discuss closer cooperation on artificial intelligence.
Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle said:
“From day one in the job I’ve been clear that my mission is to drive forward economic growth and to give businesses across the country the opportunities they need to thrive as part of the Plan for Change.
“My first visit to Washington as Business Secretary is key to strengthening our special relationship as we face global challenges together and building momentum on our Tech Partnership and trade deal ahead of the historic State Visit.”
He will also meet Alaska Airlines boss Benito Minicucci and Airbus chief executive Guillaume Faury to pitch Britain as a top investment destination.
After Washington, Kyle will fly directly to China for talks on long-term economic growth with one of the world’s biggest markets. Photo by Lauren Hurley / No 10 Downing Street, Wikimedia commons.
