TIME magazine has recognized the Prince and Princess of Wales as part of its TIME100 Philanthropy 2025, honoring their fresh and impactful approach to royal philanthropy.
Announced on May 20, the list highlights “the 100 most influential people shaping the future of giving at a pivotal moment.” Prince William and Princess Catherine earned a spot in the Innovators category, applauded for their forward-thinking strategies and the meaningful causes they champion.
As reporter Harry Booth noted, “Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, are less focused on traditional cultural preservation and more engaged with urgent social issues.” Their work addresses homelessness and rural mental health through their Royal Foundation, while also promoting innovative climate solutions via the Earthshot Prize.
The royal couple’s approach marks a noticeable shift from previous generations. Rather than spreading efforts across a wide range of causes, they select a few high-impact areas and concentrate their efforts. Prince William’s ongoing initiative to combat homelessness and the Princess’s dedication to early childhood development are prime examples.
Together, through their Royal Foundation, the couple also advances mental health initiatives, supporting diverse communities across the UK and beyond. Their work exemplifies a modern, targeted, and deeply engaged form of philanthropy that is reshaping how the monarchy gives back. Photo by Mike W. from Vancouver, Canada, Wikimedia commons.
