New car registrations in the UK saw a decline in January, according to preliminary industry data released on Wednesday. The drop was attributed to weaker demand from both fleet
and private buyers.
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) indicate that total registrations fell to around 137,000 units for the month. Despite the overall downturn, electric vehicles accounted for more than a fifth of new registrations, reflecting the industry's ongoing transition toward EV adoption.
