British Queen celebrates

Three individuals have been apprehended following the devastating loss of five lives in the English Channel on Tuesday, as confirmed by the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA).

The suspects, taken into custody on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration and unlawful entry into the UK, include two Sudanese nationals aged 22 and 19, as well as a 22-year-old South Sudanese citizen.

The fatal incident occurred when a vessel, carrying 112 individuals, encountered distress during its Channel crossing. Among those aboard were five fatalities, including a seven-year-old girl.

The arrests were made during a Tuesday night operation led by NCA and Immigration Enforcement officers. The detained individuals are currently undergoing questioning at a Kent police station, with further interrogations scheduled in the coming days.

French authorities had earlier intervened, rescuing several individuals from the overcrowded vessel. Despite their efforts, tragic circumstances led to the loss of lives.

NCA's Director of Investigations, Craig Turner, emphasized the gravity of the situation, pledging concerted efforts to identify and bring to justice those involved in the smuggling operations behind such perilous journeys.
