British Queen celebrates

Two senior officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have returned home after successfully completing a five-week International Leadership Programme at the

UK College of Policing.

Chief Superintendent Laisalyn Mua, Chief of Staff, and Chief Superintendent Francis Ramoni, Acting Supervising Assistant Commissioner for National Operations, joined fellow participants from other Pacific Island police forces for the intensive course held in London.

Their participation was made possible through the UK Integrated Security Fund under the Strengthening the Capacity of Pacific Island Policing project — part of the broader UK–Pacific security partnership.

The International Leadership Programme provides senior police officers with a comprehensive development experience focused on leadership, ethics, legitimacy, human rights, and effective policing in complex operational environments. Delivered by seasoned UK trainers and serving officers with international experience, the course also includes tailored visits to UK police forces and exposure to British heritage and culture.

Participants gain insights into global policing challenges, learn strategies for leading change, and build valuable international networks. Upon completion, they receive certification from the College of Policing.

Chief Superintendents Mua and Ramoni now join a growing cohort of RSIPF leaders who have benefitted from UK–RSIPF training collaborations. Their new skills and perspectives are expected to enhance leadership capacity and contribute to the continued strengthening of policing in the Solomon Islands.

“We look forward to the officers sharing their experiences and applying their learnings to strengthen the RSIPF’s leadership and operations,” a spokesperson from the British High Commission Honiara said. Photo by Australian Civil-Military Centre, Wikimedia commons.
