A man and a woman have been charged after police discovered more than £90,000 worth of drugs in a car on the A9 near Tain over the weekend.
Road policing officers stopped the vehicle around 4:40pm on Saturday after receiving intelligence that led them to the area.
During the search, officers found a large quantity of MDMA—estimated to be worth around £80,000—and cocaine valued at about £12,900.
A 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested and later charged in connection with the incident. Both are expected to appear in court at a later date.
Constable Connor Milne, from the Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit, described the seizure as a “significant recovery.”
“This operation shows our ongoing commitment to tackling the supply of illegal drugs and reducing the harm they cause in our communities,” he said.
He added that the investigation is part of Police Scotland’s wider work with the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce to disrupt drug networks across the country.
Constable Milne also encouraged members of the public to continue sharing information about drug activity in their areas.
“Anyone with concerns can contact Police Scotland on 101, or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111,” he said. Photo by Davidfernandocoronel, Wikimedia commons.
