Airbus workers have decided to pause their planned strikes after the company put forward a better pay and pension offer.
The strikes were set to run for three weeks starting on 2 September at Airbus sites in Broughton, Flintshire, and Filton, near Bristol. But now, union Unite says its members will first vote on the new deal in a ballot being held between 12 and 19 September.
Rhys McCarthy, Unite’s national officer for aerospace, explained:
“As a gesture of goodwill, all strike action due in September has been postponed.”
If workers reject the new proposal, the strikes could still go ahead later in the month, beginning on 23 and 24 September.
