Shortly after Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 victory against Newcastle United at St James' Park in a Wednesday Champions League match, the team's bus incurred a £50 parking fine while parked in
Tynemouth.
The incident was confirmed by North Tyneside Council, specifying that the vehicle had been fined due to its parking on Grand Parade.
The council humorously added that they might consider speaking with "Eddie and the lads" to discuss the collection of the fine after Borussia Dortmund's anticipated match on 7 November.
Civil enforcement officers are mandated to issue parking tickets for vehicles in violation of parking regulations. However, the fine could be reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days.
The council wished that the ticket, along with the typical grey weather of the North East, did not detract from Borussia Dortmund's experience on their visit to the stunning coastline.
Newcastle United, participating in the Champions League for the first time in two decades, is set to visit the German Bundesliga club next month. In their initial Group F match, Eddie Howe's team faced AC Milan in Italy, securing a 0-0 draw. They then dominated Paris Saint-Germain with a 4-1 victory at St James' Park.
