British Queen celebrates

Jarrod Bowen etched his name deeper into West Ham United history on Saturday, producing a landmark performance that saw him become the club’s all-time leader for goal involvements in

the Premier League.

The Hammers captain arrived at the London Stadium clash with Sunderland level with Michail Antonio on 101 goal involvements, but by full-time Bowen was standing alone at the top of the club’s Premier League charts.

West Ham set the tone early, and it was Bowen who provided the spark. In the 14th minute, he delivered a precise cross that Crysencio Summerville met with a header to open the scoring, pushing Bowen clear of Antonio with his 102nd goal involvement. He then made further history from the penalty spot, calmly converting to double the lead and move on to 103 combined goals and assists for the club.

The strike also brought Bowen closer to another significant milestone. He now sits just five goals behind Antonio’s record tally of Premier League goals for West Ham, a target firmly in his sights.

Speaking to West Ham’s official website after the match, Bowen reflected on the achievement while keeping his focus firmly on the team’s progress.

“It’s some feeling," Bowen told West Ham's official website. "I think individual milestones are great, even though I don’t think you’re ever fully aware of them. The one I am aware of is the goals record, and I’m not far off now, so I’ve got my eye on it!

“I feel I’m quite an old-school, robust kind of player, and I just try to go out there and give my all every time. I want to score, get assists and help the team, and certainly with where we are in the table I want to help us get results and push upwards.”

Beyond the headline numbers, Bowen’s consistency also stands out. He has now both scored and assisted in 11 different Premier League matches for West Ham — more than any other player in the club’s history — moving ahead of Paolo Di Canio, who achieved the feat 10 times.

The 3–1 win capped a strong week for the Hammers, who followed up last weekend’s 2–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur with another important three points. The result lifts West Ham to 20 points and within two of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who sit just outside the relegation zone with a game in hand.

For Bowen, the records keep coming. For West Ham, his captain continues to lead from the front when it matters most.

“Winning three in a row is always nice,” Bowen said. “It’s QPR [in the FA Cup], Tottenham and Sunderland today, so that’s a really good position to be in.

“Like I’ve said many times though, it’s up to us to go out there and do that, and to perform. Certainly over the last few weeks we’ve done that, and I think we’ve shown we can win in different ways." Photo by Egghead06, Wikimedia commons.
