That places Federer among a select group of athletes—past and present—who’ve achieved billionaire status, including LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi.

The first athlete to cross the billion-dollar threshold was Romanian former tennis pro Ion Țiriac back in 2007. Through savvy investments in real estate, car dealerships, and financial services, Țiriac has since built an estimated fortune of $2.3 billion.
