British Queen celebrates

Indie rock legends Pulp have returned to the top of the UK album charts for the first time in nearly three decades, with their latest release More debuting at number one, according to the

Official Charts Company.

This marks the Sheffield band’s first chart-topping album since 1998’s This Is Hardcore, which followed their 1995 Britpop classic Different Class—still considered their most iconic work. More, released last Friday, is Pulp’s first studio album in 23 years, following 2001’s We Love Life.

In addition to topping the overall UK Albums Chart, More also leads the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, making it the week’s best-selling record on vinyl.

The band, fronted by Jarvis Cocker, is currently on tour with performances scheduled at major festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland this July and South Korea’s Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival in August. Notably, a gap in their schedule between June 21 and July 10 has sparked rumors that they could make a surprise appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, which takes place later this month.

Meanwhile, in the UK Albums Chart, US pop star and viral TikTok sensation Addison Rae enters at number two with her self-titled debut album. The release includes charting singles such as Diet Pepsi, Headphones On, and Fame Is A Gun—all of which currently sit in the Top 40 of the singles chart.

British rapper Little Simz follows at number three with her latest album Lotus, achieving a personal best. Her previous effort, the Mercury Prize-winning Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, peaked at number four in 2021. Lotus also tops the Official Record Store Chart, making it the most purchased album of the week at UK independent retailers.

Rounding out the top five are Short N’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter at number four and Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour Collection at number five.

Over on the UK Singles Chart, Sabrina Carpenter has claimed the top spot with her new track Manchild, dethroning Alex Warren’s Ordinary, which slips to second. Carpenter, 26, also announced her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend, set for release in August. She now holds the record for most consecutive weeks in the albums chart top five among female solo artists.

The rest of the singles top five includes Love Me Not by Ravyn Lenae at number three, Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan at four, and Undressed by Sombr at five. Raph_PH, Wikimedia commons.
