Trafalgar Square is set to come alive this weekend with the return of Black On The Square—a free festival celebrating Black culture, creativity, and community. Running from 12pm to 6pm, the
event promises a mix of live music, dance, family activities, and incredible food. This year’s theme, Inter-generate, highlights Black London’s huge influence on electronic music and nightlife.
On stage, festival-goers can look forward to performances from legendary Garage DJ Wookie and south-east London favourites Born N Bread, who will be hosting the main stage.
But it’s not just about the music. Dozens of Black-owned food and craft stalls will be taking over the square, offering everything from Caribbean street food and West African vegan dishes to seafood, plant-based desserts, jewellery, art, books, and fashion. One highlight is the “Accra to London” stall, showcasing items inspired by Ghana’s capital—linked to the Mayor of London’s recent trade mission to West Africa.
The festival will also put the spotlight on Black entrepreneurship. With support from London & Partners’ Grow London Local, visitors can access drop-in business advice clinics designed for start-ups and small businesses.
And families are covered too: there’s a dedicated children’s area packed with fun activities.
