The United Kingdom hosted the 22nd UK-Kuwait Joint Steering Group (JSG) on 23 October, reaffirming the long-standing and close relationship between the two nations. The meeting resulted
in new commitments to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, defence, and regional security.
Co-chaired by Hamish Falconer MP, UK Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and H.E. Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister, the forum served as an important platform to advance bilateral relations and address shared regional priorities.
Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including national industrial strategies, joint military training initiatives, and expanding development partnerships in third countries. Ministers also reviewed regional issues, with particular attention to the situation in Palestine.
During the session, the two sides signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) — one on healthcare cooperation and another on hydrographic surveying. These agreements aim to strengthen collaboration in health systems and training, and to enhance maritime security.
