Early Wednesday morning, commuters on the Elizabeth Line faced significant disruptions when the entire Abbey Wood-Paddington section was suspended due to an
electricity supply failure.
National Rail initially reported that the suspension would last until 9 am. Although the issue was later described as “resolved,” continued delays were anticipated. As of 9:25 am, service had resumed with only minor delays reported by Transport for London (TfL).
Frustrated commuters took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their discontent, with one user commenting, “Genuinely think the Elizabeth line would go down less if they made it out of papier mâché. This is a joke.”
In addition to the Elizabeth Line disruptions, severe delays were reported on the Piccadilly Line. Issues were noted between Cockfosters and Acton Town westbound, and between Acton Town and Heathrow Terminals, due to the delayed completion of engineering work.
Further complicating travel, a collision between a lorry and a van on the A282 near the Dartford Crossing led to a full closure of the M25 motorway, causing extensive traffic jams. Photo by Matt Brown from London, England, Wikimedia commons.
