Burglars recently targeted the residence of Newcastle United footballer Joelinton, as reported by Northumbria Police. The incident occurred around 19:30 GMT on Saturday evening in Darras

Hall, Northumberland.

The homeowner, whose identity is being withheld by the police, alerted authorities after receiving a security alert on their phone, indicating the presence of three individuals inside the house. Fortunately, the homeowner was not present at the time of the incident.

A spokesperson for the police stated, "Thankfully the homeowner was not home but had received a security alert on their phone and immediately reported concerns to police." Although officers promptly responded to the call, the individuals had already left the premises.

Joelinton, who is currently nursing an injury, was at St James' Park during the incident, where Newcastle was playing against Manchester City. The break-in occurred just weeks after a similar incident at the residence of Manchester City player Jack Grealish on December 27, while he was away playing against Everton in Liverpool.

Northumbria Police is urging anyone with information related to the burglary attempt to come forward and contact the police. Photo by Silesia711, Wikimedia commons.
