British Queen celebrates

 

Storm Agnes swept into the south-west of England, causing power outages affecting more than 500 properties in north Cornwall and north Devon. National Grid reported

530 properties without power in the Jacobstow area and 50 in Westward Ho! in north Devon.

Coastguards are urging residents to take weather warnings seriously as Devon and Cornwall experience strong winds. The Isles of Scilly recorded the highest gusts at 63mph (101km/h), while Newquay experienced gusts of 49mph (79km/h).

Coastguards have warned that Storm Agnes may bring winds of up to 80mph (128km/h) to the British coastline and urged the public to prioritize safety.

Flood alerts are in effect along the north Cornwall coast from The Rumps to Hartland Point, excluding Bude. Communities most at risk include Port Quin, Port Isaac, Port Gaverne, and Boscastle.

The Environment Agency advised people to stay safe and avoid coastal paths, piers, and promenades in light of the yellow wind warnings and coastal flood alerts.

Met Office severe weather warnings are in effect from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning, with the strongest winds expected in Irish Sea coastal areas, reaching gusts of up to 75mph (120km/h).
