British Queen celebrates

An Iranian man and a Romanian woman have been charged after allegedly attempting to gain unauthorized access to HM Naval Base Clyde, one of Britain’s most sensitive military installations,

police confirmed on Saturday.

According to Police Scotland, the pair—aged 34 and 31—were arrested on Thursday following the security incident at the base, which is located on Scotland’s west coast. The facility plays a central role in the United Kingdom’s national defense, serving as the home of the country’s nuclear-armed submarine fleet as well as its attack submarines.

British media reports have described the suspects as alleged Iranian spies, though authorities have not publicly confirmed any intelligence links. Both individuals are expected to appear in court in the coming days.

The incident comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions, unfolding three weeks into the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran. While the United Kingdom has not directly participated in military strikes against Iran, British forces have reportedly intercepted Iranian missiles and drones in the Gulf region.

Security at HM Naval Base Clyde remains under close scrutiny, given its strategic importance to the UK’s nuclear deterrent capabilities.
