British Queen celebrates

Reform UK has received a £36,000 political donation from Heathrow Airport Holdings Ltd, according to the latest records published by the Electoral Commission.

The donation was formally accepted on 2 September 2025, at a time when the party is campaigning strongly against the UK’s net zero climate targets.

The disclosure comes as attention has focused on Reform UK’s largest-ever single donation from a living individual. The party recently confirmed it accepted a record £9 million contribution from cryptocurrency investor and aviation entrepreneur Christopher Harborne.

Reform leader Nigel Farage has been a vocal supporter of cryptocurrency and announced in May that his party would become the first in the UK to accept donations in Bitcoin.

Heathrow’s financial backing of the party adds another layer of controversy, given the airport’s ongoing push for major expansion plans and its role as a key sponsor of Reform UK’s recent annual conference.

Reform has consistently criticised net zero policies. Despite mounting evidence of the accelerating impacts of climate change — including flooding, prolonged droughts and record-breaking temperatures — the party’s deputy leader has pledged to scrap what he described as “net stupid zero” measures.

The donations are likely to raise further questions about the party’s funding sources and its environmental stance as debates over expansion, emissions and climate policy intensify. Photo by Ed Webster, Wikimedia commons.
