Premier Padel is set to make its UK debut, partnering with Saudi Arabian events company Sela to bring the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour to London for the first time.
The London stop will feature a P1 tournament, positioned just below the Majors in the tour’s hierarchy, offering top-tier competition for the world’s leading players.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the sport’s national governing body in the UK, has also joined forces with Premier Padel to help deliver the event, marking a significant milestone in the growth of padel on British soil.
David Sugden, CEO, Premier Padel, said, “Bringing the world’s leading professional tour to the UK with Sela reflects the importance of its position in the global sporting landscape. London offers an unparalleled opportunity for the global expansion of Premier Padel – offering a world-class venue, a passionate fanbase and strong sporting commercial strength. The opportunity to showcase the sport’s leading professional players to passionate British fans represents both a celebration of padel’s remarkable momentum and our commitment to its continued international rise.”
Stewart Hosford, CEO, Sela International, said, “Bringing a Premier Padel P1 tournament to London is a major statement of intent for Sela and Premier Padel. We want to create incredible experiences across sport and entertainment, and this event will set a new benchmark for padel in the UK. Our long-term commitment, combined with the recent transformation of Olympia and the support of the LTA, gives us a unique opportunity to build something exceptional for fans, athletes and the wider sporting community.”
Scott Lloyd, CEO, Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), said, “We’re pleased to support Sela and Premier Padel in bringing this landmark event to London. Padel is growing rapidly across Britain, and bringing an elite level event to this country will help strengthen the sport from grassroots participation to professional players. By providing a showcase of the highest level of the sport, we hope this tournament will inspire even more people to try padel for the first time.” Photo by Hombrey, Wikimedia commons.
