British Queen celebrates

London City Lionesses have confirmed the signing of Spanish defender Jana Fernández from Barcelona.

The 22-year-old arrives with an impressive track record, having risen through Barça’s youth system and played a key role in five consecutive Liga F title-winning campaigns. She also lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy three times with the Catalan giants.

Fernández joins a rapidly strengthening Lionesses squad as the club gears up for its first-ever season in the Women’s Super League. Head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur has already added several big names to the roster this summer, including Nikita Parris, Daniëlle van de Donk, and Elena Linari.

With Fernández’s experience at the highest level, London City fans will be eager to see how her arrival bolsters the team’s defensive line ahead of their historic top-flight debut. Photo by Giovanni Batista Rodriguez, Wikimedia commons.
