British Queen celebrates

The London Weekly is an online newspaper which was launched in 2008 by a group of British journalists who wrote about politics, the economy, culture, and sports.

SW1 is a Westminster-based online news site focusing on politics and parliamentary affairs. We specialise in short, readable news tailored to those who are politically active.

The idea for SW1 Politics originated in May 2024, but didn’t launch until 20 July 2024. We thought there was a gap in the market for pocket-sized, small stories within our political sphere. Our articles aren’t short enough to fit into a tweet, but aren’t long enough to be within the traditional media landscape.

Westminster Weekly will take the best articles from both of our websites and put them into a newsletter for our readers to conveniently read every Saturday morning.

Bill Curtis, the editor of Westminster Weekly and SW1 Politics said: “As we prepare to launch Westminster Weekly, we are excited to bring a fresh and innovative perspective to the coverage of UK politics. This new newsletter is a collaborative effort between The London Weekly and SW1 Politics, combining their longstanding experience with a modern approach to political journalism.”

Joshua Kozerod, the deputy editor of The London Weekly said: “July has been a fateful month for British political life. The Conservatives’ loss of power and the rise of the Labour Party have raised many questions and sparked sharp political debates about the future of the United Kingdom. As we start August and the general election becomes history, we want to continue keeping a close watch and inform our readers about the most interesting political news. The London Weekly, in collaboration with SW1 Politics, will start publishing a weekly newsletter covering key events in British politics. It will be published on Saturdays under the name ‘Westminster Weekly’ and will be produced by SW1 Politics staff.”
