Sir Elton John has returned home after a brief stay in the hospital following a fall at his villa in Nice. The 76-year-old singer was taken to the orthopaedic department of the Princess Grace
hospital center in Monaco, where he received treatment for minor injuries.
A spokesperson confirmed to BBC News that Sir Elton had been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure after slipping at his home in the south of France. After undergoing check-ups, he was discharged the following morning and is reported to be in good health.
During the summer, Sir Elton and his husband David Furnish, along with their two sons, have been spending time in France after concluding his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July. His retirement from live touring was marked by a career-spanning headline performance at the Glastonbury Festival's Pyramid Stage.
While Sir Elton has retired from regular live touring, he has not ruled out occasional one-off performances in the future. In addition to his musical career, he recently appeared as a defense witness in Kevin Spacey's trial, which resulted in the actor's acquittal on sexual assault charges.
With a musical career that began in 1969, Sir Elton John has become one of the UK's most beloved musicians, known for hits like "Tiny Dancer," "I'm Still Standing," "Your Song," and "Are You Ready For Love?" His life and career were portrayed in the 2019 film "Rocketman," where Taron Egerton portrayed the iconic singer. Photo by Ernst Vikne, Wikimedia commons.
