British Queen celebrates

A custom-made coat famously worn by Elvis Presley during the last year of his life has fetched a staggering £128,000 at the Henry Aldridge & Son auctions in Devizes, Wiltshire. The leather

and mink garment, measuring 120cm (4ft) in length, was acquired by a US collector, exceeding initial expectations. Auctioneer Henry Aldridge had estimated a price of around £15,000 for the coat.

Elvis Presley had gifted the coat to the brother of his fiancée Ginger Alden before his passing in 1977. The auction lot was accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Rosemary Alden Starkey, Ginger Alden's sister.

The coat was originally acquired from a client who had purchased it at an annual Elvis Presley auction held at the singer's former home at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge described the coat as an embodiment of the glamour of 1970s Vegas, presenting Elvis Presley in his signature mink coat.

Additionally, another prized possession of Elvis Presley, a 14-karat gold owl-shaped ring, was also sold during the auction for £14,000. Photo by Ollie Atkins, Wikimedia commons.
