Elon Musk is reportedly giving "serious thought" to donating to Reform UK following a meeting with Nigel Farage at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Farage, alongside Reform UK treasurer Nick Candy, met with Musk to discuss strategies inspired by Trump’s campaign methods that could potentially bolster support for Reform UK.
Speaking after the meeting, Farage revealed that Musk is considering a significant financial contribution ahead of the next general election. Reports suggest Musk could potentially donate up to £100 million to the right-wing, anti-immigration party.
“Money was discussed,” Farage confirmed. “We are in negotiations about whether he can help. He’s fully behind this and motivated by what’s happening in Britain to seriously consider contributing.”
Farage added that the primary focus of their discussions was on Trump’s ground campaign tactics, saying, “There’s no doubt his influence made a huge difference during the U.S. election. I learned a lot about voter registration and engagement.”
Farage dismissed speculation that Musk might provide a one-off donation of £100 million, clarifying that further discussions would take place.
Following the meeting, Farage posted a photo of himself with Candy and Musk on social media, captioning it: “Britain needs Reform.” Musk responded with a single word: “Absolutely.”
Farage later issued a statement: “We had a fantastic meeting with Elon Musk. We learned a great deal about campaign strategy and voter outreach and will continue discussions on collaboration. We only have one more chance to save the West, and together we can achieve great things.”
Farage also thanked Donald Trump for hosting the meeting at Mar-a-Lago, emphasizing the enduring significance of the “special relationship” between the UK and the U.S.
Meanwhile, Labour has announced plans to tighten political donation rules in light of Musk’s reported interest in supporting Reform UK. Speaking on LBC, Cabinet Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds said: “We’ve already been exploring stricter rules on donations, particularly from foreign individuals, to maintain trust in politics.”
