McDonald's, a global fast food chain, is grappling with technical issues in its restaurants, leaving customers in multiple countries unable to order food.

In Japan, the fast food giant acknowledged a "system failure" and advised customers to be patient while they work on restoring service. Similar complaints have surfaced on social media from customers in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

The extent of the problem has not been officially addressed by McDonald's yet. Downdetector, a platform that monitors IT issues in businesses, recorded a surge in reports of problems with the McDonald's UK app starting around 05:00 GMT on Friday. Meanwhile, social media users in Australia have also reported significant disruptions.

Ted Anderson, sharing his experience on social media, mentioned encountering a McDonald's restaurant in Japan that was only accepting cash payments, with staff manually calculating totals on paper.

In response to the situation, McDonald's Japan, which operates approximately 3,000 stores across the country, issued an apology, stating, "There is currently a system failure. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and ask that you please wait for a while until the service is restored."
