The European Commission has passed the Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP) to provide Ukraine with ammunition and missiles and replenish Member States' stocks. The proposal
includes a budget of €500 million to boost the EU's production capacity in ammunition, missiles, and their components. President Ursula von der Leyen stated that this action would help Ukraine protect its citizens and strengthen the EU's defense capabilities.
The EU, along with Member States, plans to mobilize an additional €1 billion to expand production capacities across Europe.
This move is a vital aspect of Europe's strategic capacity to safeguard its interests, values, and maintain peace on the continent. In March, the European Council called on Member States to jointly procure ammunition and missiles to refill their stocks while also supporting Ukraine.
