The White House announced on Monday that it will end the requirement to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccine for travelers and US government employees on May 11. In a statement, the
government said that it is ending the Covid-19 vaccine requirement for federal employees, contractors, and air travelers by the same day the Covid-19 public health emergency ends. The move comes as the pandemic has been virtually contained in the US, with Covid-related deaths having dropped by 95% since January 2021 and hospitalizations down by nearly 91%.
The White House stated that the vaccine requirements have strengthened vaccination nationwide and saved millions of lives. In addition, President Joe Biden officially declared an end to the national health emergency in April, which has underpinned a series of extraordinary government actions for over three years.
